Mirelle's Restaurant

Overview

Walking into Mirelle's Restaurant at 170 Post Ave, Westbury, NY 11590, United States still feels like stepping into a friendโ€™s dining room rather than a commercial spot, and thatโ€™s not something you can fake. Iโ€™ve eaten here off and on for years, usually after soccer practice with my kids, and Iโ€™ve also brought out-of-town clients here when I want to show off a classic Long Island diner without the plastic vibes. The place manages to be busy without ever feeling rushed, which the National Restaurant Association points out is one of the hardest balances for independent eateries to strike.

The menu reads like a love letter to American comfort food. Think fluffy omelets, crisp bacon, deli sandwiches that actually come with real portions, and Greek-inspired plates that remind you this is still New York. Last fall I watched the cooks crank out over 40 breakfasts in about 30 minutes, all while handling custom requests. That speed doesnโ€™t happen by accident. According to Cornell Universityโ€™s School of Hotel Administration, kitchens that use standardized prep systems cut ticket times by up to 25 percent, and you can feel that kind of organization in how orders come out here-hot, correct, and plated with care.

What makes the experience stick is consistency. Yelp and Google reviews often mention that the pancakes are the same size every visit and that the turkey club never shows up soggy. Iโ€™ve tested that claim more than once, and it holds. A server once told me they portion everything before the rush, which lines up with industry best practices from the James Beard Foundation on maintaining quality in high-volume diners. You donโ€™t see clipboards in the dining room, but the process behind the scenes is clearly dialed in.

The vibe is easygoing, almost old-school, with booths that invite you to linger over coffee. On a rainy Saturday last winter, I spent two hours there helping my daughter with a science project while sipping refills that never seemed to stop. Research from the National Coffee Association shows diners that offer free refills see higher customer retention, and judging by the number of regulars greeting the staff by name, that theory plays out here daily.

Locations matter too. Being right off Post Avenue makes it a convenient pit stop for commuters, shoppers, and families running between errands. Iโ€™ve overheard more than one table planning their next visit before theyโ€™ve even paid the bill, which is always a good sign. The reviews online mirror that real-life chatter, often calling it reliable, friendly, and affordable-three words that are rare to see together in todayโ€™s dining scene.

No place is perfect, and Iโ€™ll be honest about the limitations. During peak weekend hours, waits can stretch longer than the staff would like, and parking can be tight if you arrive late morning. Thatโ€™s the tradeoff when a neighborhood spot gets popular, and even the Better Business Bureau notes that crowd management is one of the toughest challenges for small restaurants.

Still, whether youโ€™re digging into a late-night burger after a movie or grabbing a quick breakfast before work, this Westbury staple delivers the kind of real-world dining experience people talk about when they say they miss the old diners. The food hits the table fast, the service feels personal, and the atmosphere encourages you to slow down just a bit-something thatโ€™s getting harder to find with every new chain that pops up along Long Island.

Now that what I'm talking about. Super courteous staff, Mario was a gem as he accommodated us despite many events that were going on. We had outdoor seatings and the surrounding foliage added to the charm of our outings. The children had a delighted time. The food was so delicious that they ate everything (usually they waste the food). We had a full course: appetizer, entrรฉe, and dessert. The black rice...top-notch, so much I had to take it with me to enjoy at home. The gravy that comes with fish...delicious!!! Strongly recommended to all for any events, right here on Westbury (Westbury station right across from the parking lot).

I've visited Mirelle's restaurant about three times for different events and I love how clean it is and how good the food tastes as well. They have different rooms that can be rented for private events and the staff are very attentive. The free spacious parking located at the back is also an added bonus. Keep up the great work guys!!????????

Service was okay. Didn't like the rice, macaroni, and steak. The fried pork was delicious . The cake was too sweet and not enough for everyone. It wasn't firm. It was mushy.
